Actors, Auteurs, and Artistry

Swedish Cinema in the 1960s

October 2, 2023 – April 12, 2024

The current Swedish Club building was built in the 1960s, coinciding with a period in Swedish cinema marked by significant creativity and innovation. Several actors, auteurs (film directors with a distinctive style), and artists contributed to the flourishing film industry in Sweden.

This remarkable period in Swedish film history was highlighted in an exhibit that provided fascinating facts about trailblazing directors such as Ingmar Bergman and Mai Zetterling and stars like Ingrid Bergman and Ann-Margret, who became prominent both in Sweden and abroad.

Through this exhibit, visitors to the Swedish Club could gain a deeper understanding of the creative minds behind the iconic films of the era.
